Falling Back in Love with Your Business: The Power of Boundaries
Feb 14, 2025
Not too long ago, I seriously considered closing my business. It felt broken. Exhausting. Unprofitable. Like a weight I was carrying rather than something I had built with passion and purpose.
But today? I’m in love with it again. It’s fun. It’s exciting. It’s thriving.
Someone asked me today, What changed? And the answer came down to one word: boundaries.
The Shift That Changed Everything
I set clear, non-negotiable boundaries around:
- Who I serve – Working only with clients who align with my values, respect my expertise, and understand the impact of my work.
- My value – Knowing what my services are worth and no longer bending to accommodate budgets or expectations that undervalue my work.
- My time – Defining my availability, communication expectations, and ensuring that I run my business instead of it running me.
- Scope & expectations – Clearly outlining what I deliver, what I expect from my clients, and making sure we are aligned from day one.
And the biggest realization? The work I do—branding, websites, digital experiences—is often the first impression of someone’s business. That’s a huge responsibility. And if a potential client doesn’t see that value, that’s okay. I can release them with love, knowing that the right clients—those who are ready to invest and take their business seriously—will come.
The Results? Game-Changing.
Not only has this shift made my business more profitable, but it has made projects more inspiring and efficient. We’ve refined our process to start with a deep strategic dive into a client’s brand, business, market, industry, and audience—setting a foundation that makes every decision moving forward stronger, faster, and more impactful.
What About You?
If your business has felt heavy, uninspiring, or like it’s not working, ask yourself:
- What’s holding me back from loving it again?
- Where do I need clearer boundaries?
- Am I saying yes to things that don’t serve me?
Sometimes, the simplest shifts create the biggest transformations. Could boundaries be the key to falling back in love with your business again?
